About the Company:
Te Taha Māori is the bi Cultural partner to Tauiwi who together comprise the Membership of The Methodist Church of New Zealand. Te Taha Māori is seeking a Pou Whakarae/Chief Executive who will be an experienced executive, retained to supervise and control the strategic and business aspects of Te Taha Māori.
Te Taha Māori includes Te Taha Māori Property Trust which is the entity that predominantly looks after Te Taha Māori property portfolio. Te Taha Māori as a whole was established for the furtherance of religious, charitable, social and educational work. Te Taha Māori’s mahi is focused on working with members and partners to ensure that Te Tiriti o Waitangi is upheld within the church, delivery of Wairua/pastoral care as well as maintaining and growing the putea of the organisation to support these practices. The investment base is extensive across both entities including a large property across New Zealand portfolio as well as other managed assets.
About the Role:
This is a new role within Te Taha Māori therefore it provides a great opportunity to steer the organisation through a period of direction and growth, and offers exciting and challenging objectives:
- Operationalise Te Taha Māori and the wider faith-based community’s commitment to Tikanga Maori and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
- Set direction and implement Te Taha Māori’s strategic and business objectives;
- Deliver on the needs of today’s members whilst shaping the future membership;
- Maintain and strengthen proactive positive connections with stakeholders and wider faith-based community.
Reporting to the Board and Chair (Hui Poari and Tumuaki), the Pou Whakarae is responsible for all aspects of Te Taha Māori including setting and delivering on the strategic business plan, financial management and all operational activities. The immediate team is small so the Pou Whakarae will need to be hands on but will have the ability to obtain or contract resources as necessary to meet the objectives of Te Taha Māori.
To thrive in this role, you will have a passion for working within a faith-based Māori organisation for the benefit of the members and the wider community. You will have a track record of working well with several stakeholders especially iwi/Māori. You will provide confidence that you can manage Te Taha Māori’s operations well and you will look after the putea of Te Taha Māori as you guide them towards greater results and deliver on objectives.
