Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role

We have a unique opportunity for a Principal Advisor Portfolio Benefits to join high performing Investment Management Office. Based in either Wellington or Auckland, you will be at the front of developing, embedding and continuously improving the benefits realisation framework across our four land development and housing portfolios. Reporting directly and acting as a trusted advisor to our Portfolio Management Practices Manager, you will establish yourself as Kāinga Ora’s leading subject matter expert on benefits management.

Your key focus will be ensuring that the identification, analysis, planning, realisation and reporting across the Kāinga Ora portfolios are in line with good practice. You will enjoy working collaboratively with your IMO and PMO colleagues to guide and support benefits realisation framework adoption and maturity uplift across Kāinga Ora.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on developing, embedding and continuously improving the benefits realisation framework 
• Educate programme and project teams on applying benefits realisation framework and tools 
• Support post project reviews and drive lessons learned 
• Track and report on benefits realisation work and initiatives to increase maturity levels 
• Lead and develop implementation of a sustainable, long-term benefits management capability

• Proven experience working with large, complex business change portfolios, programmes and projects
• P3O, Prince 2 or “Managing Benefits” qualifications are desirable 
• Working knowledge of the NZ public sector, including guidelines such as the Treasury Better Business Case guidelines and Benefits Cost Ratio model

Key Responsibilities:

• Expertise in modelling cost, benefit impact scenarios for programmes and projects 
• Exceptional stakeholder relationship skills
