Part of Ministerial Services, this role sits within the wider Te Kāhui Tangata Corporate Services Group, the purpose of which is to enable the Ministry to flourish by developing and providing effective and high calibre corporate services to our people. The group takes a continuous improvement and customer focused approach to its work.
About the role
The Ministerial Services team provides strategic and operational guidance, advice and support in the areas of private secretarial services, information management, government accountability documents and processes, Official Information Act requests, Ministerials, output plans, business planning and reporting processes.
This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate, or someone new to the workforce, who is keen to start their career in government. In this role, you will work across the functions of the Ministerial Services team and gain a broad experience of the machinery of government and how we are held accountable to the public.
This is a role where you will have the opportunity to build networks and make a real difference across the Ministry, while learning about how government works. As well as managing the flow of official correspondence and producing responses to Official Information Act requests, you will also be involved in:
- The Ministry’s accountability reporting, including Select Committee
- Providing hands on support to the Ministry’s records management and knowledge service
- Producing the Weekly Report to the Minister
What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role, you will have good and verbal communication skills and a strong eye for detail. You will be customer orientated and able to work to tight timelines, remaining calm under pressure. This is a broad role so flexibility and good relationship skills are important.
An interest in the machinery of government and the transport sector is a must, as there are lots of opportunities here to learn.

The Salary step range for this role is $71,172 - $90,000, depending on skills and experience.
