This is a unique opportunity to learn and start a career in Planning, working under the tutelage of one of the best Planning Directors in the industry. As a Junior Planner you will undertake research and analysis to uncover insights that can be developed into strategic communications plans, and or input into creative briefs. It is the unique understanding of different audience types that offers solutions that can span anything from brand repositioning, to digital UX, to social strategies to developing behaviour interventions.
You’ll be working in a dynamic environment alongside media, creative, social, cultural and account teams, helping to develop marketing & behaviour change strategies across a range of clients.
This role sits In Stanley St and will work within Culture (Social content) and Tātou (Cultural intelligence, all part of Waitapu Group.

IDEALLY, YOU’LL HAVE...
- A marketing/communications or psychology/behavioural science degree
- 1-2 years marketing experience, this might be in an agency or client side. You might even be in a research role that focuses on human behaviour.
- Excellent desk researcher, with high levels of numeracy - able to engage with data sets and running analysis, in addition to reading industry reports and research documents
- You might have experience working with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles or an understanding of Māori worldview
- Experience with writing decks and presenting to clients or senior management
Naturally curious, actively learning, with a range of interests outside of marketing and communications - with the ability to apply seemingly unrelated ideas to solve problems with the aptitude to problem solve
Fascinated by human behaviour, social trends, cultures and how ideas influence people.
Articulate and confident, able to get your point across in a rational, clear yet persuasive way. Be able to challenge assumptions and ask why.
Passionate - you love getting into a room with people from different backgrounds to throw around ideas
Proud of the work you do, going the extra mile to take something from good to great. Whilst being able to work at pace, learning how to move quickly to get to the end result.
