Ministerial Services is developing a larger pool of experienced staff to provide support services to members of the Executive. These roles will provide both cover for staff in Ministerial offices while they are on leave as well as surge support in times of high need. These are ‘Events-based’ roles for the duration of the 53rd Parliament.

As part of that team we are seeking two Ministerial Advisors. As a Ministerial Advisor you will be providing high level policy and political advice directly to Ministers across a range of portfolio responsibilities. These are challenging and rewarding roles which will give you an insight into the workings of the Executive Government of today.

All applicants must have an excellent understanding of existing government and public service protocols and processes. These roles require knowledge of political processes, political nous and the ability to contribute to policy proposals and submissions. Experience in responding to Official Information Act requests, parliamentary questions and drafting correspondence and briefings would be highly advantageous. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail are essential.

If you are ready for a fast-paced, exciting and challenging role, where no two days are the same, show us you have the vision, drive, and level of skills we are looking for and apply for a role with us today. Previous experience in these roles, or on the Parliamentary Complex is highly desirable.

Applicants must be permanent residents or NZ Citizens and are required to obtain and maintain a national security clearance (at a minimum level of 'Confidential').
