Ko wai mātou? - Who are we?

The Sport & Wellbeing Group develop and manage high quality, relevant sport and wellbeing programmes and facilities that support students, staff and the wider community to be active, healthy, and also enhance the University of Waikato experience.

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - about the role

We are seeking an energetic and motivated individual to coordinate a variety of social and competitive sporting events throughout the year both on and off campus.

Due to the variety of activities on the University calendar, one day you could be managing a student social sport competition and the next facilitating the teams for University Tertiary and Sports NZ (UTSNZ) and recommending students for the University Blues awards.

You will also support the Sport & Wellbeing Marketing Coordinator to increase engagement with social sporting and wellbeing events, with the goal to enrich the student and staff experience.

Some evening and weekend work will be required to support some of these sporting events.

Ko wai koe? - Who are you?

If you are passionate and energetic and want to work as part of a dynamic team, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in recreation / sports management, health and fitness, leisure studies
  • Experience working in a club, events or sport management environment,
  • Excellent customer service principles and practices and communication skills

Most importantly, you will have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships and be able to interact with a diverse community. Also, you will be able to multi-task and prioritise in a busy environment.

Our University provides a unique and satisfying work environment with many benefits to our staff including study opportunities, generous superannuation and leave provisions.

Salary will be in the range of $50,000 to $59,000 per year pro rata, depending on qualifications, skills and experience.

This is a part time role, 20 hours per week.
