We're looking for a highly motivated News Director to join our Auckland team. You will be responsible for commissioning and publishing high-quality content that meets the needs of our audience on our digital platforms and in our quality newspapers.
Driving an audience-first newsroom approach you will be focused on ensuring continued engagement and growth of our Auckland audience, for stuff.co.nz, NZ's most popular news and entertainment site. You'll also be responsible for leading and inspiring a team of journalists, devoted to driving new and exciting content.
- Collaborating with editorial staff across Stuff's newsrooms and verticals
- Working with the Chief News Director and Editor to help lead the news team, effectively managing and mentoring staff with a focus on work performance and professional development.
To be successful in the role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Experience in a leadership role in a digital newsroom
- Deep understanding of what content works well online
- Thorough knowledge of media law
- Journalism qualification
- Experience using digital audience analytics
- Competence at planning and commissioning content
