Youth Worker - Permanent - 20 hours per week

Oranga Tamariki - Ministry for Children currently have a Youth Worker opportunity based at our Tararua/Central Hawke's Bay region - a team who is passionate for getting things right for tamariki, rangatahi and the community.

About the role - Mō te tūnga

As a Youth Worker, you will be engaging with and providing professional support to our tamariki and rangatahi. You will be assisting in the facilitation of care and support to our tamariki and rangatahi through demonstrating positive behaviours and acknowledging personal influence on the life of our youth.

You will also be working with a collaborative team who is passionate about Oranga Tamariki's vision, purpose and values. You will also be providing and working in partnership with our Social Workers, Supervisors and support team. This role will also see you playing a part in building positive cultural and community connection, self-development and finally education, training and employment focus.

Engaging with whānau and other stakeholders will be part of your role where you will initiate and advocate on behalf of young people. You will also be sharing your experiences with our tamariki and rangatahi and guiding them to achieve their best potential.

To be successful in this position, you will need to portray a strong professional ethics and a holistic approach that is client-centred and strengths-based. You will display a caring, friendly demeanour and be a real team player with an open-minded approach. You will also need to have a real passion and dedication to all aspects of service deliveries and the ability to build positive relationships with our tamariki and rangatahi.
