  • Work at the leading edge of Māori-Crown relations.
  • Play a key role in a high performing, ambitious, and respected organisation.
  • New role leading a new team.

The Office for Māori Crown Relations – Te Arawhiti is dedicated to fostering strong, ongoing and effective relationships with Māori across Government. Our name symbolises the bridge between Māori and the Crown, the past and the future, and the journey from grievance to partnership.

Te Arawhiti’s kaupapa is to make the Crown a better Treaty partner – to re-set, sustain, and build the Māori Crown relationship towards true Treaty partnership.

Leading a team of seven executive support personnel, the Team Leader, Executive Support provides oversight, direction, and capability improvement opportunities within the wider executive support team. This newly established role offers an experienced people leader an opportunity to galvanise a team with their own operating model, fostering a collegial, motivating, and empowering environment. The Team Leader, Executive Support will be an advocate for their team, relieving pressure points by managing workloads and providing extra assistance, and ensuring opportunities for personal and professional growth are available.

To be successful you must be able to engage and motivate a team, and have a vision of how to manage multiple reporting lines from Executive Support staff who have previously reported directly to their Deputy Chief Executive or Director. Being able to demonstrate an understanding of te Ao Māori and a knowledge of government structures and processes will be valued. There is a focus on improving capability and capacity within the team, so a sound ability to identify and assess these areas, and being able to set clear, challenging and measurable targets is sought.
