Ko tā te Te Arawhiti -The Office for Māori Crown Relations – he poipoi i te whanaungatanga, he whakapūmau hoki i te noho pai o te iwi Māori me te Kāwanatanga. Ko ētahi atu haepapa he waihanga i te ara rautaki hei whai mō te aroturukitanga o ngā whakataunga Tiriti, hei āwhina i ngā hinonga Karauna kia whakahōnoretia e rātou ā rātou whakaūnga whakatau.  Te Arawhiti’s kaupapa is to make the Crown a better Treaty partner – to re-set, sustain, and build the Māori Crown relationship towards true Treaty partnership.

The Principal Advisor – Whakamana (Settlement Commitments) focuses on safeguarding the durability of historical Treaty settlements. Specific responsibilities will be to build the strategic approach to provide oversight of Treaty settlements, to help Crown agencies ensure they honour their settlement commitments. This work involves working collegially across Crown agencies, effectively engaging with iwi post-settlement governance entities, and the Treaty sector. This work will contribute to building of public sector capability to enable settlements to support partnerships with Māori, and to the health of Māori Crown relations. You’ll continue to develop your leadership skills by contributing to the capability of Te Arawhiti as well as mentoring staff. You will be part of a team with great heart.

You will need experience in managing projects, an understanding of te ao Māori, the Treaty Settlement process, and monitoring and policy frameworks. Success will be achieved through clear communications, strong relationships and the delivery of projects on time, within scope, and to a high standard. You will bring extensive experience in providing high quality information to Ministers, and senior leadership teams.
