Ā mātou rōpū (About our team)

At Disability Support Services (DSS) we support people with disabilities to live great lives that reflect their personal aspirations and choices. DSS provides support to over 250 people in a variety of residential settings across the Nelson/Tasman and Marlborough regions.

In residential and work environments we support each person to manage their day to day lives in ways and at times that work for them. The people we support have a wide range of abilities. Some people need support with their personal care and taking care of household tasks; some need support to participate in their local communities and some need communication and behavioural support. We actively encourage people to pursue their dreams and try out new experiences, and can guarantee that no two days working at DSS are ever the same.

We also work collaboratively and in partnership with Mental Health, Youth Justice, Addictions and Oranga Tamariki to meet the needs of people we support.

N.B. Disability Support Services are part of Nelson Marlborough Health, we are not however a medical/clinical service.  We are a community based disability support service focused on quality of life outcomes and the Enabling Good Lives Principles.
