We're looking for a talented and motivated Director to look for and facilitate opportunities that arise in a post-settlement environment, increase opportunities for and quality of Māori /Crown engagement on important issues, and support the wider public sector to build capability to work in partnership with Māori.

If you would like to see the results of your work first-hand, Te Arawhiti, based in Wellington, invites you to apply for the position of Director, Te Kāhui Hikina. Te Kāhui Hikina (Māori Crown Relations) is a part of the Partnerships Wāhanga, alongside Te Kāhui Whakamana (Settlement Commitments).

We are looking for an experienced Director who can lead our work programme, be responsible for setting and monitoring the strategic direction of the team and deliver results. In this role, you will be a member of the wider leadership team in Te Arawhiti . You will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills.

On 1 January 2019, The Office for Māori Crown Relations - Te Arawhiti was established as a departmental agency hosted within the Ministry of Justice.

Te Arawhiti consists of the following:

  • Te Kāhui Whakatau (Treaty Settlements)
  • Te Kāhui Takutai Moana (Marine and Coastal Area)
  • Te Kāhui Whakamana (Settlement Commitments)
  • Te Kāhui Hikina (Māori Crown Relations)
  • Te Hapai O Policy and Operations
