What will you be doing?
This is a newly created position that will see you supporting the Chief Executive in raising the cultural capability and confidence of Tourism New Zealand in respect to kaupapa Māori. This includes incorporating Te Ao Māori into Tourism New Zealand’s strategy, supporting how Māori culture is expressed by Tourism New Zealand internally and externally, establishing enduring and meaningful partnerships, providing leadership in building Māori competency, confidence and responsiveness across the organisation and with strategic partners along with providing strategic guidance that stimulates opportunity for Māori tourism internationally.
This is a part-time role, 3 days per week and can be based in Auckland or Wellington.
What you’ll need
A Tertiary qualification in communications, business administration, marketing or Māori development along with 10+ years experience in Māori cultural and tourism activities and development. You’ll have experience working with Iwi, be nationally respected and have strong networks within the Māori community, government departments, agencies and commercial entities. You’ll have a track record of defining a Māori strategy and leading organisational change along with in-depth knowledge and high level of fluency in Te Reo Māori.
