He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Te Waka Anga Mua ki Uta (TWA), the Māori Outcomes and Relationships team at Auckland Council, provide support for Māori to thrive in a Tāmaki Makaurau that reflects them and their aspirations.
Te Waka Anga Mua are the strong Māori strategic outcomes and relationships function that sets the path for Council. Together we need to ensure that the Council and Māori are set up for the future.
The Head of Māori Strategic Relationships and Participation will lead a team that delivers strategic relationships across the organisation with both Mana Whenua and Mataawaka to ensure the delivery of strategic priorities, as well as take the lead for enhancing Māori participation with Auckland Council.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will need to have extensive experience in a senior position in a large, organisation leading a team in a complex stakeholder environment, demonstrated people leader experience including leading through and managing change, experience in strategic relationship management including brokering relationships across sectors and excellent relationships with Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Having an understanding of te reo me ngā Tikanga me ngā matauranga Māori as well as being proficient in written and spoken Te Reo Māori is highly desirable, as is an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi within both a historical and contemporary setting.
