We are seeking a capable Advisor to join the Puna Mahara team and the wider Te Ao Tūroa group of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu. Te Ao Tūroa is responsible for environmental management, sustainability, protection of customary access and use rights, heritage protection, customary fisheries and management of taonga resources.
This fixed term full time role will provide advice and administration of the lands of cultural, historical, mahinga kai and / or conservation value that were returned as "cultural redress" through the historical Ngāi Tahu Treaty Settlement.
Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Papatipu Rūnanga and key government departments and stakeholders will be a critical function of this role. This varied position will provide advice to support Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu staff, the 18 Ngāi Tahu Papatipu Rūnanga and associated entities. This encompasses a wide range of tasks which includes preparing management plans, health and safety, assisting capacity building at the Papatipu Rūnanga level, preparing and presenting advice to Central and Local Government, advocacy, assisting with policy development and research.
To be successful in this role you will be passionate about promoting the interests and aspirations of Ngāi Tahu Whānui in environmental resource management. You will have demonstrated experience and a proven track record in statutory land planning, health and safety, property/asset management and related resource management work, whilst utilising your outstanding communication and relationship building skills.
