We are looking for a successful and enthusiastic academic to take up the role of Tomuaki Kita combined with the normal academic responsibilities of teaching, research, postgraduate supervision and professional and industry engagement.
For the first five years of the appointment 20% of your time will be dedicated to the newly created position of Tomuaki Kita. This role is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the University's Pacific Plan within the Division of Management. Our Pacific Plan aims to ensure that the University builds on its teaching and research endeavours to meet the aspirations, needs and priorities of Pacific peoples and you will provide expert advice to the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Associate Dean Strategic Engagement on these matters. You will also be expected to contribute to the Division's Leadership Team acting as a key advisor to the Pro Vice-Chancellor.
At the conclusion of the five year term as Tomuaki Kita you will revert to a fulltime academic role.
To succeed in this role you will have a PhD, a track record of high quality research outputs and demonstrated high level teaching skills in one of the disciplines taught in the Division. Stakeholder management, together with a commitment to results-oriented, collaborative and evidence-based ways of working are required. The preferred candidate will demonstrate awareness of Pacific cultures and be fluent in one or more Pacific languages and have experience working with Pacific communities.
The level of appointment will be dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
