The Division of Education is renowned for innovative approaches to both education and educational research and committed to enhancing education through the three interconnected disciplines of teaching, research and professional learning.

Te Kura Toi Tangata School of Education is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Human Development who can contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision. The appointee will join a team focused on enhancing educational and relational practices and the optimising of human experience and capabilities across the lifespan from early childhood to later life. Our work includes inclusive and relational practices, policies and pedagogies, human development, counselling and disability studies. The ideal candidate will lead papers in child development, contribute to papers in lifespan human development, inclusive and relational practices and our cultural perspective papers.

A broad and in-depth knowledge of human development, especially child development, with an emphasis on Māori understandings of children and families is essential as well as an established record of research and publishing at a national and preferably international level and an active programme of scholarship related to children’s development. A PhD is required at Senior Lecturer level and preferred at Lecturer level. A recognised teaching qualification and current practicing certificate is preferred. Applicants should indicate their particular discipline areas of strength.

The University is committed to Māori and Pacific learner success. An understanding and appreciation of cross cultural issues and concerns, in particular, knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples’ culture is preferred. Qualified and experienced Pacific scholars will be considered for a leadership role within our Division to support Pacific programmes and students.

This position can be based in Hamilton or Tauranga.

Current salary range for Lecturer is NZ$75,514 to $90,946 and Senior Lecturers NZ$93,544 to $123,726, dependent on qualifications and experience.
