Hutt Valley District Health Board
Closing Date : 30 Jun 2019
Exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary team that supports people affected by cancer.
We are seeking a part-time (0.6FTE) psychologist to be part of an exciting service that provides support to patients and their whanau who are significantly impacted by a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Although this position is advertised as a fixed-term contract until mid-2020, funding for this position is ongoing, and an extension of this contract is being reviewed.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside other health professionals across the 3DHB sub-region (Capital & Coast, Hutt Valley, & Wairarapa DHBs), providing integrated care for those with high psychological support needs from the point of high suspicion of cancer through to end of cancer treatment.
Based mainly at Hutt Valley Hospital (HVDHB), you will work with clients across the 3DHBs, working predominantly in outpatient and community settings. You will undertake targeted clinical work including psychological assessments and formulating and implementing plans for psychological interventions. You will also work closely with, and refer on to other providers including other hospital and community-based DHB services, non-government agencies and primary health organisations.
We can provide you with a range of benefits, including a supportive, friendly and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team, opportunities for professional development, regular professional supervision, and the opportunity to make a real difference to people affected by a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
A core element of this role is working to improve outcomes for Maori and Pasifika and their whanau/aiga, including plans that encompass accessible and appropriate cultural input. It would, therefore, be an advantage to have some experience in this area.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with at least 2 years post-graduate experience of working in a clinical role, with some experience of working in a general hospital/physical health setting and of working with patients with complex needs.
Current registration with the NZ Psychologist Board, with a clinical scope of practice, or post graduate Health Psychology qualification, and a current Annual Practicing Certificate are essential.
