Calling all vocationally registered GP’s with an interest in Youth health!
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Te Puna Manawa HealthWEST for youth friendly School Based General Practitioner’s to join our team, providing an exceptional standard of care to Rangatahi in the WDHB region. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated GP’s to work under a contractor agreement as the GP lead for the SBHS for 4 hours a week, and to provide GP services within a School Based Health Service on a sessional basis.
About the Role:
The GP Lead role provides oversight of all GP’s employed in the SBHS, supporting quality assurance processes through activities such as developing guidelines and reviewing programme reporting to identify and address programme and/or system wide issues. The GP lead facilitates GP peer groups, provides training for GP’s and nurses, and ensures nurses in SBHS are supported to work under standing orders.
The SBHS GP role involves providing health services for adolescents in a WDHB funded school. The role requires working in collaboration with School Nurses, wider school pastoral teams, Nurses working in Alternative Education, Teen Parent Units and Kura Kaupapa and the wider team at the Youth Health Hub.
Days and sessions of employment are negotiable for the right candidate in line with the service needs.
About the Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be vocationally registered and passionate about delivering culturally informed interventions for Rangatahi and their whānau. You will need to be an excellent communicator, able to establish a good rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds, as well as sound clinical competence, and familiarity with using the HEeADSSS assessment tool. Great IT skills and proficient knowledge of Medtech desirable.
