It’s an exciting time as we’re advancing new strategies to support and develop ngā toi Māori and Pacific arts, and introducing new initiatives that extend arts access to more New Zealanders.

In this new communications role you will develop and implement plans for our communications and advocacy work, across a range of initiatives, projects and audiences. Sitting within our Communications team, this role will have a particular, but not exclusive, focus on ngā toi Māori.

We want to be nimble, more visual, better utilise digital channels, and genuinely connect with all the communities we engage with through the channels/platforms they use.

You'll join a busy, supportive and collaborative team and be involved in projects ranging from regular funding rounds to high-profile awards and events.

 We’re looking for candidates who are:

  • confident in Te Reo Māori and Te Ao Māori
  • experienced in developing and implementing communications strategies and plans
  • media and stakeholder savvy
  • experienced engaging with Māori audiences and communities
  • comfortable leading and coordinating event communications
  • experienced in using digital communication platforms, including social media
  • great at taking initiative, with a friendly, imaginative and positive attitude
  • passionate about the arts and the benefits they bring


This job can be based in Wellington or Auckland.
