Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision is New Zealand’s audiovisual archive. We save and cherish the stories, creativity and history of Aotearoa New Zealand in sound and moving images.

With strong values of connection, creativity and conservation our purpose is to collect, share and care for New Zealand's audiovisual taonga. Our kaupapa expresses our commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and reflects Māori and Pākehā perspectives, language and aspirations. It guides the way we work with each other, with audiovisual taonga and with those connected with it.

The Information Services team is looking for a full time Takawaenga ā-iwi Reo Motuhake - Client Access Liaison Māori Specialist to join them in providing access to the collections we hold, working in our busy Wellington office. In this unique and varied customer service role, you will be working closely with our taonga, cataloguing them in te reo Māori, and assisting a wide range of clients with access and research requests, including the production community, iwi and Māori organisations, and the heritage sector. You will also be providing research support to our Pou Ārahi – Strategic Advisor, Māori for iwi engagement projects.

This role would suit someone with proven customer service experience and an interest in pursuing a career in working with audiovisual media in the heritage sector.

What are we looking for in a candidate?

  • A strong customer service ethos
  • Fluency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga - Level 3 LFE or above
  • Experience working with iwi and Māori communities
  • Tertiary qualification or relevant experience
  • An understanding of archival ethos, practice and standards
  • A high level of personal motivation, initiative and adaptability 

  • The ability to think innovatively and as part of a team

Salary Range: $48,410-$55,000
Remuneration will be commensurate with the experience of the successful applicant.
