Due to a strong desire to increase Māori expertise across the department, we have the following opportunities, based in our National Office in central Wellington:

Rautaki Māori (Māori Strategy & Partnerships)

  • Senior Adviser ($108,071 - $152,571)
  • Operations Coordinator ($56,452 - $79,697) 

Māori Services

  • Senior Adviser ($108,071 - $152,571)


  • Principal Policy Adviser ($108,071 - $152,571)
  • Senior Policy Adviser ($90,151 - $127,271)

Are these exciting opportunities right for you?

We want people who have a commitment to kaupapa Māori and to improving outcomes for Māori, the ability to thrive in a Māori setting, and a dedication to the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi.

We're looking for people who have the following types of skills and experience:

  • Advanced written communication skills including proven experience in drafting memos, reports, briefings, and/or policy
  • Established networks with iwi partners and community groups and strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to support and drive change initiatives
  • Experience in Service Design and/or Project Management
  • Sound knowledge of the machinery of government
  • Initiative and ability to operate independently
  • Demonstrated experience in policy is also required for the Principal and Senior Policy Adviser positions.

If you've had a similar role in Community Development, Māori Development or within the Justice Sector, this is also helpful.
