Who We Are:

Moana New Zealand is the largest Māori owned fisheries company in New Zealand. Profits we make are returned to Māori in the form of dividends, with the balance retained to fund long term growth initiatives of Moana New Zealand. We take a uniquely long term view in everything we do, abiding by the customary principle of Kaitiakitanga.

We are true guardians of the world’s most pristine and sustainably managed fisheries, with a deep sense of responsibility to our people and respect for kaimoana and kai ora.

Our story is about true connection and we are here so people will always be able to share in the true taste and rare magic of New Zealand’s best seafood.

Our Opportunity:

Working as part of Moana New Zealand’s Group function, you will report to the Group Communications Manager and work closely with the Digital Media Assistant. You will have a pivotal role in all PR and media activities from being the key point of contact for internal and external communications, developing key messages and proactively composing press releases through to representing the business at key industry forums.

This is a hands on, roll up your sleeves role for a daring content maker who is intuitive and resourceful and has the tenacity to always find a way and deliver to a high standard. Your reputation as a wordsmith, who is a good listening and engaging speaker will proceed you, along with your innate sense of collaboration and enthusiasm for team and company success.

You will take the lead in managing the interim and annual reporting process, liaising and building strong relationships with media, Iwi, and key stakeholders, along with our people on the factory floor through to the executive team.

You will be actively involved in our sustainability programme and community engagement initiatives, as well as collating stories and content throughout the year for a variety of communication channels.

No one day will be the same!

What you will bring:

You will need to hit the ground running and capture the essence of Moana New Zealand, by developing a true connection with our people and a deep understanding of the business to translate and make accessible to multiple stakeholders. In turn lifting our profile and reputation within the industry and New Zealand.

You will have the versatility and energy to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. As a doer, no job will be too small or big and you will be comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team.

We need a clever, creative and intuitive individual to take the reigns of this great opportunity. You might be a graduate who has some experience in marketing and communications looking for your next career challenge and the chance to add value. Alternatively you maybe a mum or dad looking to return to work, have an excellent background in PR and Communications, who will value the flexibility we offer along with the chance to utilise your expertise and make a difference.
