He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Parakai Springs, once a sought after destination, is in need of someone with the vision and drive to restore the whenua, bring life to the community and help highlight the cultural significance of this special site. Te Poari o Kaipātiki ki Kaipara (formerly the Parakai Recreation Reserve Board), is a co-governance entity that oversees Kaipātiki (formerly the Parakai Recreation Reserve). Te Poari has an ambitious improvement programme in place and needs someone with excellent programme management skills to bring their vision to reality. You will be happy to work at pace while keeping Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara and the local community involved.
As Kaiwhakahaere Hotaka you will provide advice and direction to Te Poari o Kaipātiki and implement the capital development projects and operational programmes. You will be specifically accountable for:
- Understanding and refining the objectives, priorities and deliverables of Te Poari o Kaipātiki ki Kaipara and seeking direction from/providing updates to Te Poari
- Engaging with Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara hapu, stakeholders and the local community to ensure the improvement programme fosters whanau and community and reflects the cultural identity of Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara
- Ensuring the design and delivery of a range of projects on time and to budget
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will either know this community well or you will be able to show an affinity with the vision and values associated with Kaipātiki. We need excellent programme management skills with great accountability for delivering on time and to budget. An innovative thinker and problem solver, you will need to have proven stakeholder engagement experience and excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. You will be a confident speaker with the ability to build and maintain relationships and influence outcomes collaboratively. It is vital you also have a high standard of written and oral communication skills and strong skills in delivering project documentation.
With substantial experience in project or programme management, including construction, you will have knowledge of current legislation and consenting requirements for environmental and resource management. You will have a background with developing partnerships with iwi and the community. Competence in Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori would be highly regarded.
