About our group
Education Workforce comprises workforce strategy and planning teacher supply, scholarships and awards and employment relations, including bargaining. Education Workforce supports the sector to build a workforce that has the capability and capacity to deliver high quality practice and can support innovation across the system to lift student achievement.
About the role
The Senior Advisor contributes to the overall purpose of the Education Workforce team by providing advice and taking ownership of specific pieces of work to support teacher supply. They will both lead and support the design, development and implementation of specific teacher supply projects and pieces of work that are underpinned by robust evidence and analysis.
You will be an experienced Advisor who can lead project teams and have a relevant tertiary qualification or other relevant discipline is desirable (post-graduate preferred) and preferably have qualifications and/or experience in the development and implementation of new projects.
You will have a sound understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and their implications for our work on operational policy, service design and delivery within the education sector. You will show genuine empathy and respect for Māori, enhancing mana through the way that you work.
You will understand the significance of identity, language and culture. You will have the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse cultures, valuing their perspectives, world views, life experience, insights and knowledge.
Your expertise will contribute to the design, development and implementation of projects and initiatives that focus on building and maintaining the quality of the education workforce. The role will involve you in work with groups and individuals across the education sector from early learning services, through primary and secondary schools. You contribution to this team will help to strengthen and introduce initiatives that deliver results in the short and medium term, linking to more strategic planning and development to grow the education workforce of the future.
