Te Ataarangi is a Maori language revitalisation movement that was established in 1979 and has worked with communities for almost 40 years to teach many thousands of people to speak te reo Maori. Based on the Silent Way Method, Te Ataarangi uses Cuisenaire rods as a language learning tool and has proven to be an effective technique to enable learners to korero Maori.

Today, Te Ataarangi continues to work with whanau in their homes and on their marae, in kohanga reo and kura, teaching classes and running immersion activities to grow speaker communities and immersion domains, to empower and reconnect whanau to te ao Maori. A key focus is to encourage intergenerational language transmission and the revitalisation of te reo Maori in the home.

Te Ataarangi are in the process of realigning our organisational structure with a new strategic plan that looks to: grow the capability and capacity of our eleven regional branches across Aotearoa and Australia; strengthen our strategic relationships and communications; uphold traditional values and the integrity of the organisation; and continue to be a leader in Maori language revitalisation.

Te Runanga o Te Ataarangi are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and inspiring Te Manutaki i Te Ataarangi with strong management and communication skills who can represent and advocate for our organisation. If this sounds like you, are you ready for the challenge?
