Te Hononga School of Curriculum and Pedagogy is the largest school in the Faculty of Education and is responsible for pre-service and postgraduate education of teachers in early childhood, primary and secondary education.
The School is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor with research specialism in one or more curriculum areas in education, who can contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision. Fluency in te reo Māori, knowledge and understanding of tikanga Māori and primary years education is required in order to contribute to teaching in the Faculty's Māori medium initial teacher education programmes.
You will have a PhD and a recognised teaching qualification. A high-level record of research, an active programme of scholarship and a recognised contribution to the academic field appropriate to the level of position are essential. You will also have demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching including the ability to lecture to large numbers and conduct small group seminars and tutorials effectively, along with the ability to contribute to the graduate and postgraduate teaching programme.
The appointee will be expected to teach in a number of courses in the Faculty's programmes, in his/her field(s) of expertise and contribute to Māori medium teaching, including at least one curriculum learning area (e.g. Pāngarau, Hangarau, Mahi Toi), as well as contribute to the teaching of papers on the professional practice of teaching including innovative uses of digital technologies. Applicants should indicate their particular areas of curriculum and professional practice strength. Ability to contribute to doctoral and masters level supervision for theses/dissertations to be submitted in te reo Māori is desirable.
Current salary range for Senior Lecturers is NZ$91,710 to $120,752 per year and for Associate Professors is NZ$122,280 to $135,018 per year dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
