The New Zealand Film Commission / Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga assists with creating and promoting New Zealand films. They are a vibrant catalyst for the industry; involved in a wide range of activities including supporting the development of scripts and the careers of New Zealand filmmakers, promoting New Zealand films here and overseas, and administering grants to assist with co-production.
The Pou Whakahaere is a new role reporting to the Chief Executive and will play an important role as the organisation builds its cultural capability and implements its new Te Rautaki Māori Strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our leadership team facing significant industry change but is focused on ensuring Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga’s work is relevant and focused on building partnerships with the Iwi/Māori film industry stakeholders.
You will have sound senior management or executive experience reporting to the Chief Executive and can influence colleagues to achieve challenging goals. With your proven leadership skills, you will have the confidence and Mana to engage with colleagues and our Māori stakeholders on a range of issues and opportunities in a respectful manner. We are seeking a person who has a unique set of skills and demonstrated experience in the NZ screen or arts and culture industry who is focused on results achievement.
This Wellington based role will present the successful candidate with complex challenges and therefore a focus on developing pragmatic solutions with the Iwi/Māori and the Māori film industry will be critical to the person’s success.
