  • Empowering a strong collective kaupapa through supporting your colleagues across the organisation to strengthen their ability to provide; advice, guidance and support on the application of tikanga, mātauranga and te reo Māori in a local government context

Developing strategic partnerships with important stakeholders to deliver on its commitments to Māori arising from Te Tiriti o Waitangi relationships and in legislation.

Your Skills and Experience

You will be firmly grounded in kaupapa Māori - it is the essence of your worldview, it gives meaning to your work. Driven by your kaupapa, you will tautoko other departments in becoming more capable of implementing Council's Value Te Ao Māori principle in their business.  You will provide excellent advice and guidance to decision-makers, leadership and staff across the council family on Te Tiriti o Waitangi relationships management and governance with ease.

  • Firmly rooted in Te Ao Māori - a minimum of 5 years' experience working with iwi, hapū and rangatahi Māori in Auckland
  • Experience in promoting learning of Te Reo, Tikanga and Mātauranga Māori
  • Strong communication in Māori speaking mediums - experience with relationship management
  • Proven involvement in supporting the implementation of a Māori action plan or similar
