Pou Tūhono Manager – Strategy and Implementation
University of Waikato, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Māori Office
We are seeking a suitably experienced, qualified and motivated individual for this newly created senior position within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Māori Office. The main objective of the position is to provide leadership in advancing the University's commitment to Māori distinctiveness and ensuring the objectives of the University Strategy and Māori Plan are supported, developed and implemented.
To be successful in this position, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Māori plan with close liaison with Faculties and Service Units. You will lead the development and implementation of the existing Māori dimensions that give the University of Waikato its distinctiveness in initiatives such as its campus culture, student and staff profile, educational experience and support offered to students and the wider social and recreational activities in which the University engages.
In addition you will provide the linkage between the Office and strategic areas of the University, including senior staff and units, the University marae, the Chair of Te Rōpū Manukura and the University Kaumātua across both Hamilton and Tauranga campuses.
Requirements of this position are a relevant tertiary qualification with preferably a postgraduate degree. You will ideally have a minimum of three years' successful work experience in a similar position with demonstrated comprehensive knowledge developing, implementing and evaluating strategic plans. It is essential that you have fluency in te reo and tikanga, and excellent interpersonal skills which have enabled you to develop successful institutional partnerships and/or collaborative relationships, initiatives and/or programmes. In addition you will be confident yet respectful in advising and working with senior staff and high-level external stakeholders and also have financial management and budgeting skills.
