The Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development is a tribally owned postgraduate research facility dedicated to the advancement of Waikato-Tainui and indigenous development.
An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a new Director to lead the College. Based at Hopuhopu and reporting to the Waikato Endowed Colleges Trust, this position leads a team that will operationalise the College’s strategic plan, by achieving outcomes across its strategic focus areas. The role will provide strategic leadership and management across the College including initiating strategic partnerships and alliances, managing existing contracts and programmes and securing new business opportunities.
Key attributes sought includes proven senior executive experience, with the ability to drive initiatives and projects. An appreciation of kaupapa Maaori and tikanga, high proficiency of te reo, the ability to make decisions and proven team management will all be critical for success. You will also need to have empathy with the political nature of working within an iwi-based organisation and have had previous experience reporting and working with a governance Board.
A comprehensive understanding of the research sector and previous experience in working in the tertiary education sector, would be advantageous.
This leadership role is dynamic and varied. It is a senior management role that is expected to develop strong external relationships and achieve key strategic goals from planning to successful delivery.
A relevant tertiary qualification is essential.
