Mō te Tūranga | About the Role:

Mōu ka noho hei Kaiwhakahaere Matua Tutukinga, ka nui te wāhi ki a koe ki roto i ngā mahi whakamahere, whakahaere mahi. The role of Te Pane Matua Taiao; Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) is to protect our environment while meeting the cultural, social and economic needs of our communities.  They’re specifically responsible for the region’s natural environment; including flood protection, biosecurity, provision of regional parks, public transport planning and funding, and partnering for climate change resilience.

Within the council, Te Hunga Whiriwhiri rōpū embrace their privileged role upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the values of the partnership between GWRC and mana whenua in the region. They provide support and advice on governance relationships, strategic and operational leadership, policy and planning which unlocks the potential of Māori communities, effective communication and engagement with Māori and leadership on te reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role:

As the Kaiwhakahaere Matua Tutukinga, Operations Delivery Manager you’ll be a key contributor to planning and managing workflow. You’ll report directly to Te Pou Whakarae and Hautū (Directors), working closely with stakeholders to establish priorities, allocate resources, set objectives, and define timeframes.
Your responsibilities will include monitoring and reporting on the team's performance against assigned projects and the overall organisation, ensuring alignment with the Te Whāriki Māori Outcomes Strategy and Te Tiriti audit. Acting as a conduit for communication and an ‘unblocker’ of the mahi, you'll oversee the Agile cycle of work for the Pūrongo Hub, facilitating internal and team communications.

Mōu | About You:

You’ll have proven experience operationalising strategy as well as a background in project and/or programme management utilising an Agile methodology. Sound knowledge of local government processes and organisational operating models is needed. You’ll have a strong understanding of tikanga Māori, Mātauranga Māori, and te Tiriti o Waitangi, along with relevant experience or qualifications in Māori studies, public policy, or related areas.
Effective relationship management and communication skills are essential, as you'll collaborate with the team and wider stakeholders. Analytical and problem-solving abilities will help you optimise workflows, manage resources, and mitigate risks effectively. A commitment to personal accountability and productivity is vital for success in this role.
