We are seeking people at all stages of life to join our Community Pools team as a Lifeguard - We will provide you with the training, you just need to be a confident swimmer!

Our community pools team is made up of Freyberg, Karori, Keith Spry and Tawa pools. This team is a fun and passion group, who are driven to provide positive and safe environments for all community members to enjoy!

We currently have six opportunities across three of our community pools, see the details below:

  • Full Time Permanent Lifeguards at Freyberg pool, and Keith Spry
  • Package #N1224 - Tue (Tawa) 1-9.30pm, Wed (Tawa) 1-9.30pm & Fri 9.30-6 (KSP)
  • Package #N1316 - Tue (Tawa) 5.30am-2pm & Sat (Tawa) 11am-7.30pm
  • Package #S0913 - Tue (Karori) 1-9.30pm & Thurs (Karori) 4pm-9.30pm

Forget your preconceptions of what a lifeguard looks like - you just need to be a confident swimmer and be great with people. This is a super supportive environment where we will ensure that you are well looked after and never thrown in the deep end.  No experience is necessary as we will provide all training and support to get you up to speed AND we will pay you as you train!

You will gain at a minimum the following qualifications:

  • First Aid Level 2 Certificate
  • Pool Life Saving Practicing Certificate (PLPC)

We pay $56,213 per annum for full-time Lifeguards and $26 per hour for our part time lifeguards. 

You'll work in a stimulating environment and have plenty of development opportunities within Wellington City Council. We have a rostered system which includes some weekends. Let us know your availability when you apply.
