Employee Relations Advisor at leading social services provider (3-month temp role)

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

We are seeking an Employee Relations Advisor to work for a temporary 3-month assignment. This role is crucial in supporting the team by providing expert advice and support on a range of employee relations matters and requires an adept individual, capable of navigating complex HR issues effectively. You will join a small team of 5 HR Practitioners. 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience Required:

  • Relevant qualification in HR and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a HR generalist role.
  • Thorough knowledge of Employment and Industrial Relations legislation in New Zealand.
  • Proven experience in conducting internal investigations.
  • Ability to provide sound advice to Managers within the organisation on workplace relations issues, including employee complaints, grievances, and conflicts, ensuring they are equipped to take a more pro-active and preventative approach to employee matters.
  • Experienced working alongside unions.
  • Skilled in advising managers on performance development and improvement plans.
  • Expertise in handling performance issues, including disciplinary actions.
  • Strong grasp of HR policies and procedural advice.

  • Strong in employee relations, ethical practice, cultural awareness, and valuing diversity.
  • Confident decision-maker and providing an informed approach.
  • Committed to applying the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Knowledge of te reo me ōna tikanga Māori would be advantageous.

Requirements:

  • Must have New Zealand Residency.
  • Full, clean New Zealand driver's license.
  • Clean police record.
